Ellen Wedum, Otero Democratic Chairperson and candidate for NM Representative 59, and I had the pleasure of attending the Cloudcroft High School Scholarship Awards Night. Ellen introduced me as a precinct chairperson and candidate for Otero County Commissioner #3. I then called Austin Provencer forward to receive the scholarship from the Otero Democratic party. Ellen said "Keep it brief." So said I to a High School Commons full of parents, grandparents, teachers, administrators, and friends, "From my earliest memory of the Democratic Party, it has stood for and worked for excellence in education."

Austin Provencher, center, was awarded a $200 scholarship by the Democratic Party of Otero County at the Cloudcroft High School Seniors Award Ceremony on May 7. On the far left is his proud mom, Dawn Provencher, who ran for the NM HD 56 in 2006. Dulaney Barrett, 6th precinct chair and county commissioner candidate, presented the award. Ellen Wedum, Otero county chair and NM HD 59 candidate, is on the right.
