Earlier in the summer I had opportunity to attend the Commissioner's session which hired Timothy Smith as the new County Manager. I volunteered at that time to give him a tour of some of the mountain part of the county. He is already getting acquainted with the Alamogordo portion. Tim called and said he'd take me up on the offer. So we met at the Weed Cafe August 8 where he got to meet some of the folk still there from the breakfast bunch and also got to see some of our county's finest potholes! We traveled to Pinon, Weed, Sacramento, Mayhill and Cloudcroft. He already had been to or had near future plans to visit Sunspot and Timberon. Tim is an interesting person and is a New Mexican getting to come back to New Mexico. We simply got acquainted with each other and he got to get a first hand look at an important part of his and our county. I am grateful to Tim for taking the time to see where a lot of good folk live.
